STRENGTHS

• Friendly - For someone coming from the Far East, Yuji can be pretty friendly. If you strike up a conversation with him, he will respond with a friendly demeanour.
• Assertive - Yuji knows when to stand his ground and knows how to keep true to his convictions. He is also quite confident in his abilities. If he shows you otherwise, this is intentional and wants you to think this way.
• Confident - With regards to his abilities and in contrast to his younger brother Kyo, Yuji is quite confident in them. If there is something he knows how to do and do it well, he won't mince words. He will instead show you how it's done.
• Respectful - Yuji was raised with the notion that people are to be respected. Even if they make decisions that you do not approve of, it is their life and life is one of the most precious gifts the Kami has given.
• Charismatic - For some, Yuji can appear quite charismatic. Even in Common Eorzean, he chooses his words with consideration, whether it's to respect someone else's privacy or if it's to get something he wants.
• Positive outlook - As much as he can and because of what his abilities entail, Yuji tries to look at everything with a positive attitude.

WEAKNESSES

• Secretive - Those who try to get close to Yuji will be met by an invisible wall. He will not speak of his past, his abilities, nor will he speak of his status as a Lord of the Kiritani clan. He figures that because of what he is capable of, it's easier to be secretive rather than be open about any of this.
• No emotional garbage - While Yuji is completely fine with talking about other people's emotions, he will not speak of his own. Ever since he could remember, he hasn't ever spoken about them. When trying to force him to, he will flee.
• Holding it all in - While Yuji is very well-disciplined at keeping his emotions in check, he actually has a difficult time talking about deeper negative emotions like loss and disappointment and failure, in conjunction with "No emotional garbage." He can never articulate his words properly, both in Hingan and in Eorzean common, in these situations.
• Unforgiving - When any person has done something wrong towards Yuji or someone he considers a friend, it's game over. There are no second chances, there are no do-overs, there is no forgive-and-forget.
• Opinionated - Sometimes, Yuji can get very opinionated about things. Even when the person that is being spoken about is someone two fulms away, he will have no qualms talking about them, especially if they've done something stupid or idiotic.

Yuji was born as the first son of father Kiritani no Isshin and mother Kiritani no Rinon on the Seventh Sun of the First Astral Moon, according to the Eorzean calendar.At a very early age, Yuji was taught how to hold dagger-like weapons such as kunai, baselards, and other knives. He was basically set up to be a shinobi. While he didn't have much say in the matter, he nevertheless obeyed instructions and even became very adept with them during his teenage years.While the mother and father were not planning on having a second child, they did not want to leave their eldest son Yuji in solitude. In truth, Isshin also did not want Yuji to be completely dependent on him for companionship and wanted his children to be more socially adept. Because of these reasons, Yuji would later have a younger brother named Kyo.In addition to being trained by his father in the shinobi disciplines, Yuji was also blessed with education from scholars and other teachers throughout Kugane, showing that he was quite adept in mathematical subjects, sciences, and of course aetherology. He was also taught by other martial art instructors in military tactics.Growing up with Yuji, he did find companionship in his younger brother. He does feel rather blessed that Kyo was able to fend for himself since privacy was something Yuji treasured and doesn't seem to get enough of when he wants it. He frequently trained with his father, along with other disciples that his father took in. He disliked many of them because they had the assumption that because he was the son of their master, he was getting special treatment. This was anything but true. During training, Yuji was treated like any other student and dispelled these rumours whenever they came up, which was often.Due to the combined efforts of Isshin's and Rinon's parenting, both Yuji and Kyo grew up to be outstanding individuals within their community and are usually seen as kind, intelligent, respectful, approachable, friendly, and generous. They are well-liked by their peers and superiors. Both parents are rather proud of the two boys they've raised. While they continue their services to the Bakufu and for the greater good of Hingashi, Kyo and Yuji do have greater freedoms than usual since their father is still an active lord even if his influence is fairly minor in the grand scheme of things. Despite this, Yuji is next in line for the role of daimyo in the Kiritani clan and there are many things expected of him, which he isn't all that thrilled about.

STEALTH AND MISDIRECTION

As mentioned before, Yuji was taught how to hold and wield daggers, knives, kunai, baselards, and other knives at a young age. This and along with other throwing weapons like shuriken and smaller kunai, Yuji became very adept in thanks to his fathers' teachings. Despite the fact that his father taught other kids and those other kids always accused him of preferential treatment, he would prove them wrong every time he was accused.What is interesting, however, is the strength of the different jutsu that he can cast. In contrast to his father, Yuji is able to cast more powerful versions of it. Especially so if it required aether. This is likely thanks to his mother. He is adept in casting every single elemental jutsu, especially fire and lightning. His go-to attacks do tend to be fire-based.One of the jobs that Yuji takes pride in doing is covert operations. During missions provided by the higher ups, he really likes sneaking around unnoticed thanks to his talents with stealth. Despite being unseen, he is aware that those who are aether-aligned and can see and/or sense it will be able to detect him. He compensates for this with misdirection tactics. If he can distract those with these talents so he progress through his missions, he will employ these tactics from making the simplest noises to even casting powerful jutsu. It's all about completing the mission, isn't it?Before anything else, one thing he does is examine his surroundings carefully and remember where things are exactly placed and located so he can use them to his advantage in the future. In conjunction with his misdirection tactics, being carefully observant allows him to use his environment if need be (and he usually does) for distractions.

RUMOURS

• A few women and even some men claim to have been intimate and slept with an orange-haired shinobi. But when asked to provide proof of this, they are unable to obtain any.
• Did you hear about a wonderfully proposed marriage between a Kiritani and a Takasaki that almost immediately soured? Perhaps you heard rumours during your stay in Kugane several years ago.
• Yuji is supposedly well-versed in trade and finances but somehow cannot keep koban for very long.

HOOKS

• Are you or your clan a member of the Bakufu? You have perhaps heard of the Kiritani clan and you may have heard of its head (Isshin) or his children. (Yuji or Kyo) The Kiritani clan tend to stay away from the in-fighting that likely happens within it and only provides input to the Mitsurugi clan when prompted or asked.
• Did you know someone who was ordered to commit ritual suicide because of a crime they committed in Hingashi? It might be possible that Yuji carried out the arrest that lead to this ritual suicide.
• If you have purchased ceramic plates, bowls, or cups with designs of Bi Fang or dragons, you may have bought it from a stall in Kogane Dori that Yuji sometimes manages.
• If you know anything about the "dark arts," Yuji may want to talk to you. No, not involving voidsent.

If you have somehow made it this far, thank you for checking out this page for Yuji. A lot of this was created keeping in mind some parallels between Hingashi and real-life Japan. While the clan itself isn't indicative of an existing clan back in Japan's Sengoku-era, I believe this is a decent attempt at replicating what a clan would be like.Anyway, I am a filthy casual player who likes to level and run content and, of course, roleplay. The adventurer plate should provide a general idea of my attendance in this game. I am in the Pacific time zone of the US (GMT -8) and am usually on during the evenings on most days. If I am on Yuji and the RP icon is on, please don't hesitate to walk-up. They are my favourite part of RPing. You can also send me a /tell if you're more comfortable with that.I would also prefer that you and your character are at least the age of 18 if you'd like to RP, especially when we start to deal with more adult situations. For clarity, I am quite past this age.

FAVOURED

I am down to write most types of RP but I tend to gravitate towards adventure, slice of life, mystery, combat, and I indulge in some dark themes every now and again. I am okay with one-off and long-term RP.I'm also okay with romance and erotic topics as long as our characters have established a deeper connection than just a meeting here and there, and it isn't the only thing driving our RP. As it stands, it is quite difficult to become a romantic partner to Yuji since there is a tidbit in his story that is not mentioned here and also because of what his actual occupation entails. That, and he's very secretive of who he really is.

AVOIDED

The things I'm about to mention here should not even have to be said since I believe this to be common sense. But here they are, anyway. Situations like death, dismemberment, metagaming, doing other things that require OOC permission when it is not obtained, and other basic stuff that should be considered a big fat NO. If you aren't sure about anything, please ask. I like to think I'm fairly approachable and open-minded. I try not to mince words and be honest.
